Easy peasy vegan pancakes

So, I'm not vegan, but I m trying to be more conscious of the food that I'm eating and where it comes from. So here is my very easy pancake recipe that's good for you and the environment.

Ingredients
1 cup of plain flour
1 cup of almond milk
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
2 tablespoons of maple syrup
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Method
Whisk all the ingredients together
Melt some coconut oil in a frying pan so the pancakes don't stick
Use a ladle to pour some mixture into the frying pan
Cook for about 2/3 minutes on each side

Et voila! Now you have some delicious vegan pancakes. I normally top mine with fresh berries and maple but, of course, you can top them with whatever you want.

Enjoy!

An ode to the earth

As you may or may not know, today is Earth Day and so I thought that I'd share a compilation of some of my favourite quotes about this beautiful planet where we live.

“A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people.” - Franklin D. Roosevelt

“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.” - Native American Proverb

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” - Jane Goodall

“The poetry of the earth is never dead.” - John Keats

"Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty." - John Ruskin

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtfully committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead

"The earth is what we all have in common." - Wendell Berry

Style Crush // Camille Rowe

I first came across the model/actress/general babe Camille Rowe when I watched Vogue's video 'Inside The Wardrobe of Camille Rowe' (which you can watch here) and I instantly fell in love with her laid back, Parisian chic style. In the video, Bay Garnett delves into Camille's vast wardrobe in her Parisian home which is filled with an array of vintage tees and vintage designer items which I looove and so I thought I'd share some of my favourite pictures showing her style .

Monthly music // March '16

March has gone so quickly this year and I've had a hectic month - to say the least - but I have managed to listen to some new and some old music, so I have decided to make another monthly playlist. I've gone a little Alt-j crazy this month because I haven't listened to them in aaaages and I forgot how amazing they are so it was hard to whittle it down to only a few of their songs to put on this post because I have been listening to all of their albums on repeat. I've also been loving some old songs by The Last Shadow Puppets (in anticipation of their new album which just came out whilst I was writing this), Tame Impala, Mumford and Sons, Wolf Alice and more.

Music Playlist // March '16

1. Something Good - alt-j

2. Ms - alt-j

3. Tesselate - alt-j

4. The Less I Know The Better - Tame Impala

5. Moaning Lisa Smile - Wolf Alice

6. Sleeperhead - Beach Baby

7. Standing Next To Me - The Last Shadow Puppets

8. Tomkins Square Park - Mumford & Sons

9. Change of Heart - The 1975

11. How Could I Not - Tom Rosenthal

12. Bamboo - Hinds

Why did I start blogging?

I wanted to start blogging because I would like to become a better writer and I am a believer in the idea that the more that you do something, the better you will become at it. That is why I am aiming to publish a blog post a week on here (usually on a Sunday even though I forgot last week, whoops) to get me writing more frequently which , I hope, will help me to become a better writer. I would also like to use my blog so that, in years to come, I can look back at my old posts and see what I was like and the things that i have done - using it almost as a diary.

p.s. The pic is from my pinterest

Wolf Alice @ Oxford

This time last week I was lucky enough to have been on my way to Oxford to see my faves,Wolf Alice, with one of my bestest gal pals. To begin, they were awesome! I've never been to o2 Academy Oxford before but I think its one of my new favourite venues because its so small and the gig felt so perfectly intimate. The support acts were Bloody Knees and Swim Deep, who were both awesome. Swim Deep had a few technical glitches but apart from that their set was pretty fun. Bloody Knees were v cool too and really got everyone going. Then, after Swim Deep, came who everyone was waiting for, Wolf Alice. It's hard to pick a favourite song but if i had to chose it would be between Your Loves Whore, Bros and Swallowtail because: YLH was the first song they played and everyone was sooo excited and going crazy, Bros is Wolf Alice's most well known song so when the intro to that began everyone everyone got excited and knew all the words and Swallowtail because it is such a beautiful song that made everyone go silent as Joel sang. The set was an hour long but it went so quickly so I'd love to see Wold Alice again sometime.

Inspirational individual #1 // Ella Grace Denton

To begin, Ella really is a beautiful person inside and out. Just reading her blog makes me want to make a smoothie bowl and start doing yoga and a scroll though her Instagram makes me want to pack my bags and travel the world. Her style is beautifully vintage, her taste in music is ace and she's got quite a handsome boyf (Jack Harries *swoon*) but those are not the only reasons that she inspires me.
Ella inspires me because on her blog she writes about feminism and self love and body positivity and, as a teenage girl who doesn't really like to talk to and learn about that sort of thing from people I actually know, she really inspires me. She's also a vegan and blogs about it realistically and, to clarify,  I am not a vegan. But, Ella has made me start to notice what I'm actually eating and now i try to buy more natural foods/beauty products etc. because if we carry on treating the world like we are now and living these very unsustainable lifestyles then, what will happen to it?
As I hope you can see, Ella is pretty perfect so I hope you take a look at her blog and get as inspired by her as I do.

So, here's the music that I'd been listening to in the month that just passed. I have found some new faves, music-wise, this month (Bahamas, DMAs and Viola Beach :( r.i.p. ) and have also been listening to some of my longtime faves (The Wombats, catbm and Kanye...). Also, don't forget to follow my spotify to keep up to date with what i am listening to.

Souvenir Jackets

Something that I've found myself pinning a lot on my Pinterest recently (find me here) are souvenir jackets. Initially commissioned by American soldiers circa WWII to commemorate their time abroad in Japan, these silky bomber jackets with intricate embroidery are now popular with celebs such as Harry Styles and Olivia Palermo. Unfortunately these jackets ,a.k.a Sukajan jackets, come with quite a hefty price tag even on eBay, where there are some beautiful vintage ones for sale, so I think that I will just have to stick to marvelling over them on Pinterest.

Slogan Tops

One of the most essential pieces of clothing to have, imho, is a slogan sweater. Don't know what to wear? Just chuck on some jeans and a slogan sweater. Want to inject some fun into a boring outfit? Just go for a slogan sweater.
Below are some of my favourite sweaters that i've seen around, enjoy!

Maybe Sweater - Urban Outfitters - get it here

Portland sweater - also Urban Outfitters (soz) - get it here

Bonjour sweater - Whistles - get it here
